Model 2800 Case Packer

Our standard high-speed, top-load case packer engineered for precision and flexibility. Servo-controlled motion delivers gentle handling and repeatable performance, while intuitive controls and built-in guidance make operation straightforward.

Benefits

  • High-speed operation up to 120 cases per minute
  • Servo-controlled motion for accuracy and product care
  • Tool-less changeover for simplified adjustments
  • Virtual Changeover Guide for guided, efficient transitions
  • Dual case capability for greater throughput
  • Touchscreen controls for easy operation
  • Air transfer package for smooth product flow

Low-Friction Product Transfer

Our air transfer technology uses controlled air inflation to gently guide products into position for packing, minimizing mechanical contact while ensuring precise, consistent placement at production speeds. The system handles a wide range of product sizes, shapes, and materials, maintaining control even with lightweight or uniquely shaped items. Its low-pressure design protects product integrity by reducing the risk of scuffing, crushing, or misalignment.

For heavier products or applications where airbags are less effective, a warestrip option provides positive mechanical control for reliable movement and positioning.

Gentle Product Placement

To accommodate a wide range of product types and handling requirements, the Model 2800 offers two packing methods: Lowering Head and Elevator. While both options are designed to deliver accurate and efficient case packing, they differ in how products are transferred into the case.

The Lowering Head uses a servo-driven grid to precisely lower products into stationary cases, making it an efficient solution for high-speed operations where consistent placement and throughput are the priority.

The Elevator, by contrast, raises cases up to the product, providing a stable and versatile platform that supports both traditional drop-pack transfer and enhanced Placehead technology.

For products requiring additional protection, the Placehead can be added to the elevator to gently place items into the case, minimizing drop distance and impact for pressure-sensitive or delicate containers.

Machine Options

Quick-Adjust Lanes

Faster, more precise changeovers. Quick-Adjust Lanes allow operators to set to the values specified in the recipe by turning two crank handles. This eliminates guesswork and ensures repeatable, accurate adjustments every time. By streamlining the process, the system reduces changeover time by 40–50%, saving up to 8 minutes per switch while keeping operators focused on production and efficiency.

Parallel Pack

Faster throughput, built into your footprint. Our Parallel Pack capability evenly distributes cases across two lanes, enabling side-by-side packing at speeds up to 120 cases per minute. By keeping both lanes running simultaneously, the Case Packer delivers higher throughput without expanding your footprint, helping you do more with the space you already have. Add the three-foot Case Merge feature to seamlessly combine both lanes into one at the case packer discharge.

Machine Status Board

The Machine Status Board is our latest accessory for top-performing accumulators and case packers, providing a faster, easier way to monitor machine performance.

With large, scrolling messages visible from a distance, technicians can instantly assess the machine’s current status and performance in the previous hour.

Integrated Laner

The Model 2200 Laner efficiently organizes containers into up to eight lanes, handling a wide range of shapes and sizes, including lightweight or unstable products, with precision. Quick changeovers in five minutes or less keep your line moving, while product clamping helps manage backpressure for smoother downstream flow.

What Our Customers Say

Having a vendor such as Hartness that has multiple selections for equipment – such as case packing, laning, and accumumlation – all in one, it just makes that section of the line that much easier to install. Hartness has been tried and true for us. We’ve had three case packers in our Ripon facility for over 15 years. Whenever we’re looking at bottle handling or case handling equipment, Hartness is always one of the top on the list.

The DYNAC accumulation really defines the line controls. The way that system works: the table does the work and you really end up having a really soft way to handle glass. We are going to be using the same type of system on a can line, which is probably even more beneficial because we’re really worried about can damage, denting, or creasing by pressure.

It’s been a good one. We’ve worked well with the group. I feel like we’ve added value, they’ve added value – it’s been a collaboration. Everything that we’ve been doing with them has been working well.

Cory Ross

Senior Project Manager, Sierra Nevada

I saw the DYNAC first and I said to myself ‘I can manage to put that in on existing line 6’ – it was really crowded. If we could gain 5% more in efficiency on the line, it will be paid, and we gained 18%. Since that, we have bought ten or eleven more. You don’t have bottles touching each other. Here, you have first-in/first-out, all the time. We are producting between 600 and 750 thousand bottles per day.

In addition to having a really limited footprint to put the line, we also had really strict timelines. Our project was really a six month project – maybe eight months at most – so we were really under the gun, and Hartness was able to meet that timeline without any questions at all.

For us, its just as important that we feel like we’re working with people that know what they’re doing and that we can trust, and that we’re getting a fair price from. We felt that with Hartness, that’s what we were getting: exceptional poeople who where full of integrity, who gave us a price, which is something they were able to meet, and a timeline they were able to meet, and made promises on the engineering end that they were able to satisfy.

The HTW is a nice machine. Its simple, straigtforward – its a wonderful machine – it just runs and runs and runs. We’ve had really good support too; that’s one of the nice things.

I would recommend Hartness to others. The whole project team was good, everything along the lines was excellent, right down to the technicians and the equipment themselves. Its a fascinating thing – it’s excellent  – and yes, I would truly recommend Hartness to somebody else.

Jason Schultz

Project Manager, New Glarus Brewing Company

When we were putting in the new line, line 32, as automated as it was we wanted to have a lot of accumulation. Instantly we thought of Hartness DYNACs. Alsolutely, I would consider our newest line probably one of the most state-of-the-art lines in California at this time. The DYNAC 6400s and 6900s have that vertical accumulation with a very small footprint so it gives you options for line layouts that is more adventageous to the production. It allows us to run more lean on the production floors and it allows technicians to decide where their attention is needed without losing any efficiency. Since installing the 6900 DYNAC we’ve seen enormous efficiency gains on some of our more difficult packages. We’ve seen 10% efficiency gain which equates to five cents less per case. Because the DYNAC gives us about seven minutes of uptime when another piece of equipment is down, it allows us to have our operators floater on the floor to where they need to be.

We need to work with vendors and suppliers that believe in the same type of vision that are going to exceed their customer’s expectations. And with Hartness, I believe that we have found a partner that does believe in that vision as well.
